my mom gave hubby some dried seeds for planting. my hubby was so happy and quickly worked on the new project. he bought some new plastic pots, potting-soil and fertilizer. i helped tagging them...hihi :D

we went to amk polyclinic for my dad's blood test and review after finding his legs both swollen. the doctor confirmed it was due to water-retention. he's better now after taking medications.

after polyclinic we went to a nearby nursery selling assorted plants and gardening accessories/tools. we bought stuffs for my mom, including some mini plastic pots for her planting. i told my mom about the idea i have been pondering...she can sell mini potted plants in flea markets. she has always been very good with her green fingers and i thought that it should be a good idea to help as extra income. she greeted my idea pleasingly and now eager to start.

i have not been blogging for too long, and now i decide to make a comeback. so, let's start with my little girl who is not so little anymore.

she's now in sec 1 at dunearn sec...received her final exam results which she passed all her subjects and being top in class with her maths result.

fatin is now standing as tall as me and i know she is going to outgrow me pretty soon. but no matter how tall she has grown, she is still the blur sotong and we are all proud of her.

we attended a wedding solemnisation and dinner yesterday. our neighbour held their daughter's wedding at tepak sireh restaurant and it was one of a kind. the whole place and event were simply delightful and lovely.

i'm sincerely in lurv with the gifts exchanged between the bride and groom. the themes and colours used here made everything looked exclusive and classy.

thinking that our shortfall this month was ruining everything, i apologized to my children for not able to getting their new spectacles for next year. miraculously our destiny suddenly turned around when ms chan transferred some money as christmas gift for my children. she told me to get something nice for them. first thing we did - we took our kids to the optical shop.

faiz wanted this for his new glasses, but we had a budget as we still need to get him his school shoes, socks and uniforms.

and we got efi new shoes for her work. it's pakalolo!!! the brand i had always wanted when i was a teenager but could never afford one. it's very beautifully rugged and she lurvs it.

below: efi started work around end november, and this is what she has been wearing since day one. it's her father's shoes of size 10!!! the over-sized shoes made her look like a mcdonald clown on duty. knowing our situation, she has been kindly putting up with it without any complain. hence, we feel that the new pakalolo is the best christmas present for her.

fatin and her new ferrari

it's a long story how fatin got a lappy. and to cut it short and simple...fatin took up her daddy's challenge and passed every single test and exam throughout her primary 6 year, and of course all subjects for her psle.

when fatin got first in class for her preliminary exam, my hubby already got worried coz he knew she would do well in the final exam. he started to crack for ideas how to keep his promise and get the lappy.

and to cut the story shorter - he decided to try get it on hire-purchase from courts store. with no payslip except for his 1-year property tax assessment, he tried his luck. after 4 days of waiting, no approval from courts yet. fearing that his application might be rejected, my hubby had to apologize and explain to fatin on our situation. 2 days later, fatin's life began to change...the sales person from courts called and asked my hubby to make collection with first down payment.

2010 has really been fatin's year.

today is my dad's 71st birthday! and today is his last day of antibiotic i/v treatment at opat, ttsh. there will be a few follow-ups from 20 dec onwards, but he's glad that the i/v tube has been pulled out today. he's very tired and getting bored with the hospital visits. i hope he will get better after all this is over.

this is something awesome that i didn't get to update on time. it was a prize-giving day at south view primary, and fatin was one of the recipients. she got first for her preliminary examination and it was an unexpected achievement for her.

she had been doing self-study seriously since she was posted to part-standard and part-foundation primary 6.

she has received her psle result and now waiting for her secondary school posting, which will be released on 22 dec. praying hard she can get her first choice - dunearn secondary.

they found puss in my dad's kidney, and his doctor decided to drain it out. with the help of ultra-sound, a needle was guided to locate the puss and later something like i/v was placed and a tube helps to suck it out. this bottle was used to contain the puss.

when i spoke to doc mok, he told me that my father would be awake throughout the procedure. and after talking to my youngest sis about it, i became worried if my dad's heart could take the pain from the needle and all.

amazingly, my dad said that he was asleep throughout although there was no jab given to him before the procedure. he was looking at the equipment screen the specialist was working on, and suddenly he felt sleepy. when he woke up, he saw they were adjusting the plastic container. it was all over.

my dad is now strong enough to sit up and feed himself

we went to visit my daddy again this morning and met the doctor who explained to us about his progress. my dad has been on insulin since 2 or 3 days ago in order to keep his diabetes under control. they have now decided to try put him back on oral medication from tomorrow onwards and shall observe how much it can help him. if this succeeds, he doesn't need the insulin after his discharge.

my dad has been hospitalised again since 13 oct at midnight.

in the early morning on that same day, my mom called about my dad who suddenly became too weak to move and had breathing difficulty. we sent him to the clinic and the doctor confirmed that he missed his medications for the long 2 months. and it's now taking its toll with slight swelling on both his legs. he also complained that he felt as if there's a sponge stucked to both his soles.

that night, my sisters decided to send him to the hospital hoping that the doctors can help bring down his sugar level and subsequently attend to his breathing problem.

today i started to help my hubby attending to the kindergarten students on his transport, sending them home from school. they are all so cute.

jyothsana was the first one to board and asked me, "are you the new bus auntie?"

i said, "yes. what's your name?"

"i'm jyothsana. what's yours?"

"i'm suzana. nice meeting you." and we both shook hands.

later she introduced me to all her friends on the bus.

we had so much fun talking and joking around. i watched some of the little gentlemen playing games, making sure that they don't leave their seats. at the same time i listened to all the stories that the girls were so eager to share with me.

while joking around and snapping their photos, my hubby turned around and told me "you are suppose to control them, not play with them." i smiled, choosing to continue the conversations with the girls.

we went to nus family day at the zoo today. it was fun and ... tired

efi didn't join us as she had extra class and made plans with her friends after that

but the best part of the day was making faiz and fatin stand on these big rocks. well, it's been a tradition every time we visited the zoo since the kids were still very young. we would take pictures of them standing on the rock, located near the polar bear enclosure ..

fatin and her three other classmates have been hand-picked by their teacher to attend a gala dinner. fatin has improved her studies so well and been passing all her test papers and mid-year exam with flying colours that her teacher decided to reward her with this grand event.

her biggest fear, naturally, is having nothing nice to wear. we are really short this month and can't give her anything new. so, this is what we planned for her - her sister's top and my green sash (which i owned since i was 20!). still, she needs the right shoes to go with the outfit. there's nothing nice in the shoe rack for her. we need to save up for a new pair of heels and we have until next thursday. we shall also get her black stockings and some pretty hair accessories.

above: arrival of south view primary school. we were looking out for our little fatin but we couldn't spot her. we thought she got cold feet and didn't come at all.

efi approached their teacher and asked for her sister. and her teacher said that she was sitting with her friends. we stood by the 2nd level balcony looking down, searching for her. but we couldn't find her. efi yelled, "fatin!"

a girl looked up, and efi told her, "can you ask fatin to look up?" but she kept staring at us...

and suddenly we realised "that's fatin!". oh god, she looked so different in that make-up and bun. i can't recognize my own baby. she looked so grown-up.

fatin came home with most of her make-up cleaned off

i couldn't take any picture during the performance as they have strict rule about photo and video taking.

singapore has been promoting the 'night-out' on the media. after few discussions and brain-storming, we now decided to take a break from our tradition family breakfast outing and turn 2010 into our family night-outs :p

and to mark this first 'tradition family night-out', we decided to head to lido at orchard for 'how to train your dragon'. the movie was great and the storyline was based on our everyday family issues (minus the dragon, of course)...not complex and thus easy for my little girl to understand.
